Why do you want to become an egg donor?
I first heard about becoming an egg donor through one of my good friends and roommate who started her journey of becoming an egg donor a little over a year ago (through Elevate). Then while traveling last year I ended up meeting a few gay couples who shared their journey of trying to become parents and having to go through an egg donation process and how thankful they are for these donors. I always thought that when you become an egg donor it lowers your chances of being able to have children but through my friend I found out that this doesn't affect your ability to have children! After finding that out, I really wanted to give back to people who are not able to have children on their own, whether that's because of their sexuality or infertility, or the various other reasons that stop amazing people from becoming parents.

Anything special you'd like to tell us about you?
I am actually the shortest person in my family besides my mom, and I am saying that at 6'1''. My three brothers are 6'7, 6'8, and 6'11, and my dad is 6'9. My mom is also not short, she is 5'9. People always assume I am the tallest in my family, but then they see me with my family and are shocked. English also was not my first language. I was actually born in Germany and moved to San Diego, CA when I was 8. Most people don't realize that because I don't have an accent or anything, and my German grandma actually makes fun of me for having an American accent when I speak German. I also have been very entrepreneurial from a young age. I started my own dog sitting business when I was 12, handing out business cards I made on VistaPrint back in the day and putting them in people's mailboxes.

Who are the most important people in your life?
The most important people in my life are definitely my family and friends. I don't know where I would be today without their support. I have met people who aren't fortunate to have relationships with their family anymore, for whatever circumstances, and I always think about how extremely blessed I am to be so close to my family. Although we don't see each other as often as we would like, every time we do get together it's like we just saw each other. I also have 4 beautiful nieces (2) and nephews (2) who are my whole world. Not having my own children, they definitely get spoiled by their Aunty Lisa! And they also changed my mind about not having kids of my own. For the longest time I only wanted fur babies, give me ALL the animals. But after they came into my life, and feeling the love I have for them, it definitely changed my perspective. This is also a reason I want to donate, to be able to give people that same feeling, times 100!

What are your special talents?
Special talents makes me think of being able to put your leg behind your head or speaking 20 languages, and I definitely can't do either of those. I guess if I had to pick some, I would say I am athletic. I played professional volleyball and grew up with 3 brothers, so from a very young age I could throw a football farther than most boys. My family as a whole is athletic, my dad and all my brothers played at least college basketball and then professional basketball and my mom played handball in Germany. I can also speak fluent German from growing up there and a little Spanish.

What is the one change you wish to see in the world?
One change I wish to see in the world is a less judgmental and more compassionate world. People are so quick to judge a book my it's cover based on how somebody looks, what their sexuality is, where they come from but I believe you never know someone until you get to know them. I also believe you never really know what someone is going through, so showing someone a smile or just being a kind can be turn somebody's day around. We live in a world of social media, and while I think it is an amazing tool to stay connected with people and open new opportunities, I also believe that people are quick to judge someone behind a screen and write comments on pages without consequences. Subsequently, we also see only the best parts of people's lives and could never tell if someone is going through something and how those comments could affect their mental health. I try to live my life always being kind to everyone I meet and not judge them for anything, and I wish the world was more like that because I think it would be a better place.
-
What would you consider to your greatest strengths?
I would say my greatest strength is being able to understand people and being a good listener. I love meeting people from all backgrounds and learning about where they come from and what made them who they are. I also am not a judgmental person so I have a lot of friends who confide in me for help or when they just need someone to vent to.
-
What is your favorite dish to consume?
I wouldn't say I have a favorite dish but I love Italian or German food. I grew up in Germany and moved to the US when I was 8, so I grew up on a lot of German dishes. My grandma still lives there so I go and visit her a lot and honestly anything she cooks is my favorite. I love a good Schnitzel or Curry Wurst.

What is something you've accomplished in life that you are most proud of?
I would say my volleyball career and solo traveling a majority of last year. I was fortunate enough to play for a Division 1 volleyball program who was consistently top 25 in the country and ended my college career being top ten in the country. I ended up playing overseas in Europe for a season before unfortunately injuring myself which ended my career. I would say what I am actually more proud of is taking the leap to solo travel last year around various places. I have always had a passion for traveling but always thought I had to wait for people to go with it. I finally decided to go by myself and traveling by yourself teaches you so much about yourself and I also met some incredible people along the way that I don't think I would have met had I been traveling with friends due to sticking mostly to your friends when you travel. It also definitely got me out of my comfort zone and I learned that this is where you grow the most. I definitely grew more than I ever thought possible last year.

What is a book you love?
I know this may overhyped to some, but I absolutely loved Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yaros. I loved the characters and the story building and it was a book that made me forget I was reading, which is my favorite. I read the book in less than three days just sitting at the beach letting the time pass without realizing. I have gotten really into reading the last year and had a kindle while traveling so I could read any book at the press of a button (thank goodness for kindle unlimited). Although I will forever be a paperback or hardcover book girly because I love the feeling of flipping the pages and feeling the weight of the book in your hand.
-
How would other people describe you?
I would say others describe me as a kind, laid back, mix of introvert and extrovert. Most people think I am an extrovert when they first meet me because I come off as a bubbly, talkative person, but I also love to be by myself. I like to be around people and meeting new people but I also love to take a book and my speaker to the beach and just read and relax.

Describe your own personality to us
I would say I am a kind, compassionate, empathetic, understanding, animal loving, caring, adventurous, creative, goofball. I love trying new and adventurous things, and I am the first to say yes to any trip or activity that I haven't tried yet. I care a lot about people and making sure they are ok. I am the first to try to make people laugh my being silly and once I really come out of my shell, I am an absolute weirdo. I have always been a creative person as well. I loved to draw/sketch a lot when I was younger, I love music and want to learn to play the guitar. I also have been really into paint by numbers (the adult version of course) and it's been super relaxing for me.

Who are you closest to in your family and why?
I was the closest to my older brother, unfortunately he passed away last year. He taught me so much about life and was always the first to cheer me on when I was trying new things. I ended up living with him for the better half of last year in Germany while I travelled around and he was sort of my home base. I would say second to that, probably my mom. I am the only girl with three brothers so we are very close and she always tells me how I am her favorite daughter. I tell my mom absolutely everything and she has always been a person who supports anything I do. She is the first to tell me to go travel, to go try something new, and it is amazing to have someone like that in your corner.

What was the defining moment that made you choose your field of study/career path?
I feel that this is still an open ended path for me. I am not sure I found my career path yet. I definitely love my job and it is fulfilling in a sense that I get to help hospitals in need by providing staff for them to be able to help take care of patients that are in need, but I believe life is about exploring more than one lane. A couple years ago I went and spoke to family and friends who are in their late 40s and earlier, when I wasn't sure what I wanted to to with my life. And a similar story I found over and over was that rarely were they still in the same path they started out in when they were 18, 19, 22, etc. Most people were led in different paths that they had no clue existed and working amazing careers that they hadnt dreamed about. I think this was a turning point in my life because I realized you don't have to have everything figured out. As a planner and wanting to have everything figured out when I was younger, this was a sigh of relief. As I am navigating life, I learned that it is ok to change your mind and not follow something you thought you would want to do. Life is about trying different things, whether that is your career or where you live, or something as simple as a workout routine or a new coffee shop. I have learned that travel is a huge part of my life, and something I absolutely love, and I am finding that I may change career paths again and try to find a way to make money through traveling.

If you could tell the intended parents who are considering you one thing, what would it be?
For whatever reason you may be having to use an egg donor, I know the circumstances aren't ideal and I can't imagine the long and difficult process you have had to endure to get to this point. I can't imagine having to pick someone just based on a profile, without ever meeting them, to be part of your future child's DNA. If I were in your shoes, I would say to follow your heart when it comes to choosing someone (given all other factors align of course). If a gut feeling is telling you that this is the right match, follow that.

Places you'd love to travel
Oh gosh, this list is absolutely endless. I want to see as much of the world as possible. Currently on my list though, are Africa, specifically Zimbabwe, Botswana, Tanzania, and Uganda. Mainly for the wildlife. I want to go on as many safaris as humanly possible and see the most wildlife I possible can and be able to capture all of it with my camera. Besides that, I have fallen in love with Scuba Diving in the past year so a lot of places on my list involve places you can dive, such as Galápagos Islands, Maldives.

What are your favorite words to live by?
Don't do things because it's what other people expect you to do, do what sets your heart on fire because at the end of the day those people are not the ones living your life.

Where do you see yourself in ten years?
I see myself hopefully being married to my best friend, traveling the world, trying new things/new cultures, maybe having kids of my own if it feels right. I just aim to be able to do the things I enjoy and live life to the fullest. To experience any new experience that I can and meet new people along the way.
