Why do you want to become an egg donor?
Although it may sound odd to say, donating my eggs is something I have always wanted to do. I’ve always known I wanted to be a mother, but I also know I am not at the point in my life that I am ready to do so! So to know there is another person out there with that desire and who—for whatever circumstance—is unable to do that without some help, gives me the opportunity to give them that gift. As well, to donate my eggs to a family who will raise that child to be the best they can be is something I am passionate about. I think parents in this program are dedicated—they will raise a child who can go do great things in the world. And I can help them do that with my donation.

Anything special you'd like to tell us about you?
I'm the rare mix of super-hard working yet silly and playful at the same time. I've been an overachiever my whole life: getting straight A's, starting college at 15, moving very quickly up in my career path, but I also love to travel, I love to be outdoors, and I love to laugh!
-
Are you currently working? If so where and in what capacity?
Yes. I actually made a big life decision in the last few years to leave managerial roles in Training & Development and the hospitality industry to return to school to study Astronomy. I know it sounds crazy! But I was always a great student in school and I ended up majoring in something that was practical rather than what I really crazy! But I was always a great student in school and I ended up majoring in something that was practical rather than what I really enjoyed. After working for seven years, I realized I was never going to be happy continuing that line of work. So I returned to school to study something that gets my heart beating and my mind racing! Now that I am back in school and am actually challenged, I feel I am on the right path for doing great things that actually challenge me intellectually and can help change the world.

Who are the most important people in your life?
I'd have to say my dad is one of the most important people in my life. My dad is the most intelligent person I know. He did go to Yale, but he also dropped out his very last semester because he had a dream opportunity and knew that he should go for it--even if that meant not getting his degree from a prestigious university. My dad is smart yet down-to-earth and HILARIOUS. He calls himself a 24-hour comedian. When I think of my father, I think of who I want to aspire to be: a person who is driven, intelligent, passionate about what they do, but also down-to-earth, funny, and generally someone you love to be around. I also feel my fiance is one of the most important people in my life. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be following my dreams. He taught me it is OK to be yourself! And to love who you are because we only have one chance to be who we want to be in life. He gave me the courage to do it, and has also been my support to go back to school and to challenge myself to be a bigger and better person.
-
What are your special talents?
I have an excellent sense of humor and ability to make puns on the fly, a singing voice like Adele or Amy Winehouse, I can reach over a foot past my toes, and I can touch my nose with my tongue :p.
-
What is the one change you wish to see in the world?
It may be cliche, but I wish people could set aside their differences and see the bigger picture that we are a human race! With all of the discoveries being made about worlds outside of our own, we as a species need to realize that we are inhibiting ourselves from doing greater things by fighting and bickering and allocating our resources to things like war rather than progress.
-
What would you consider to your greatest strengths?
I am very hard-working, determined, and inquisitive, but I actually think my biggest strength is my openness. Growing up in Hawaii, you are raised in a very multicultural environment. Hawaii is a melting pot! Being exposed to so many cultures and races helped me to be non-judgmental. And I feel this openness became super-applicable as an adult and in the working world because you end up looking at a wider range of resources and ways to solve a problem--and ultimately, are able to come up with better solutions.

What is your favorite dish to consume?
I love sushi! But I also love ice cream sundaes.....

What is something you've accomplished in life that you are most proud of?
I had a lot of success early on in life, but I always felt those successes came easy to me. What I am most proud of is something I am doing now which has been the most difficult: changing careers. With the support of my fiance, in the last few years I decided to return to school to study Astronomy. I know it sounds crazy! But until that point, I was doing something what was practical rather than what I really enjoyed. After working for seven years, I realized I was never going to be happy continuing that line of work. So I returned to school to study something that gets my heart beating and my mind racing! Now that I am back in school and am actually challenged, I feel I am on the right path for doing great things that actually challenge me intellectually and can help change the world.

What is a book you love?
The Giver

How would other people describe you?
A lot of people think I am very serious and work-focused- but it's only because they don't realize that I am a complete dork until they get to know me and I open up (I can be a bit shy and reserved at first). People who have known me for sometime would describe me as a dork. They would say that I am smart and don't think like other people. And they would say that I am a good friend.
-
Describe your own personality to us
I really am a complete dork. As soon as I am comfortable around you, you will not get me to stop making jokes and busting out one-liners. I love to smile and laugh, and if that means I am doing it by myself, then so be it! I will always make the most of a situation. It is how I keep myself going! When I am by myself I do think of puns all the time, but I also am thinking all the time! I am definitely a deep-thinker and feel I can usually uncover more about a situation than others around me.

Who are you closest to in your family and why?
My father. We actually don't talk much, but we have very similar personalities (we get each other), and I have always looked up to him. My father is the most intelligent person I know. He did go to Yale, but he is also down-to-earth and HILARIOUS. He calls himself a 24-hour comedian. When I think of my father, I think of who I want to aspire to be: a person who is driven, intelligent, passionate about what they do, but also down-to-earth, funny, and generally someone you love to be around!

What was the defining moment that made you choose your field of study/career path?
I had known for sometime that I needed to change careers: I wasn't challenged, happy, or looking forward to being in the position of any of my supervisors! I knew I was in the wrong industry. I also knew I loved astronomy, was always wanting to learn more about it, and thought the jobs that people held in that industry were the coolest ever! So...this is corny...but one day we were watching a TV series and in the show, the main character was asked what she did. She responded "Am I being practical or brave?" And the scene played out where she gave both answers and she realized what she really needed to do was to be brave and follow her dreams. And that's when I realized I needed to do the same. After that, I knew I would never be at ease until I at least tried to follow my dreams too.

If you could tell the intended parents who are considering you one thing, what would it be?
Family is extremely important: and to help you build a family of your own means the world to me. Knowing how dedicated you are to having a child by using this program, I know you will raise the child well and take care of them. You will be a great parent! And I hope you will consider me to help you make your dreams come true.

Places you'd love to travel
I want to do a world cruise because I love to travel and want to go everywhere! I've been to 47 countries and plan to keep it going. Although the Philippines is next on my list. The dives there are supposed to be amazing!
-
What are your favorite words to live by?
"Life begins at the edge of your comfort zone" and "If you're the smartest person in the room, then you are in the wrong room."
-
Sports/Dance/Hobbies you enjoy
I am on an outrigger canoe team. I love astronomy. I've been taking astronomy classes at a local university and was able to take an "Observational Astronomy" course where I actually got to set-up and use the telescopes. I have my own observing binoculars and will go out on clear nights to see the constellations! I also love to travel and am really good at finding deals and planning trips: I have been to 47 countries and am always thinking of what trip I will take next! I also want to incorporate more diving / outdoor activities into my future travels. Lastly, I am a very good dancer (I was part of a salsa club in college and was a Zumba Instructor as well) and I practice yoga on a regular basis.
-
Where do you see yourself in ten years?
Raising a family with my current fiance and doing astronomical research.
