Why do you want to become an egg donor?
One of my best friends took on her dream job of being a fertility nurse a few years ago and I have grown so inspired by the stories she has told me over the years about the journeys of people’s deepest wishes becoming reality. The opportunity to make someone’s dreams come true fills me with so much warmth and excitement. I’ve always felt compelled to help people, animals, and all living beings in any way possible, and being able to not only “help”, but to make someone’s dreams come true, is something I could never pass up.

Anything special you'd like to tell us about you?
I am a bi-lingual first-generation Turkish-American, which led me to treasure my relationships with my family members overseas and feel the importance of a family bond while growing up. It also gave me the skills to be a resilient self-starter and the confidence to navigate a lot of things independently, which I am so grateful for.

Who are the most important people in your life?
The most important people in my life would have to be my parents and my friends. My parents moved to the states on their own and are the only “traditional” family I have in the U.S. This makes us all very close and we talk every day. My friends have become my “chosen” family and we rely on each other a ton. I know I can count on my parents and friends anytime for anything, and they can do the same for me. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without them.

What are your special talents?
I attended a performing and fine arts middle and high school, which shaped the way that I navigate the world through a more creative lens. It was also where I began digging into and developing my artistic skills. Today, my favorite creative medium is photography. I do freelance work occasionally, but I truly just enjoy the creative outlet photography provides me. I’ve been lucky enough to have won a few photography competitions and have my work displayed in galleries

What is the one change you wish to see in the world?
I would love to see a more compassionate world where everyone can come together for a common goal of creating an equitable and healthy world for future generations.
-
What would you consider to your greatest strengths?
I would consider one of my greatest strengths to be my creativity. I love thinking outside the box and coming up with new ideas and ways to do things. If something seems to be not working, I have a great knack for looking at my surroundings/what's on hand and figuring out a solution.
-
What is your favorite dish to consume?
I am always in the mood for falafel (with extra hot sauce :))
-
What is something you've accomplished in life that you are most proud of?
Moving to the city always feels like a big accomplishment that I am proud of. I moved out of my small hometown into a city where I truly feel as though I am able to thrive. I have an incredible group of friends, lots of organizations I am involved in, and a plethora of activities to take part in. I’m so grateful and proud of it all.

I would say that I am pretty extroverted, laid back, and super creative. I love to find humor in things, I can adapt to all situations, and I love being outdoors. I care deeply about many things including, but definitely not limited to, environmental justice, equity and inclusion, animal rights, and of course the people I love.

Who are you closest to in your family and why?
I am extremely close to both of my parents since they are my only family in the states. We have a family group chat where we talk every day and send each other photos and updates about our days. I would have to say I am the closest to my mother. We have a classic mother-daughter relationship whereas the years go on, I truly feel like we can confide in each other and that in addition to our mother-daughter relationship, we have a great friendship.

What was the defining moment that made you choose your field of study/career path?
I have always been a people person and knew I wanted to work with people in some capacity and I have cared about the planet and animals from a young age (I even stopped eating meat when I was 13). When I was around 20, I went to an event with a guest speaker who discussed their research project about people’s perceptions of sea level rise and mitigation techniques in urban areas. It seemed like the perfect blend of working with people and also nature in a way that I had been searching for. After the event, I went up to the guest speaker and told them how inspired I was, and asked to join their research team. Luckily it worked out for me and led me to the perfect job as a Digital Marketer for an environmental non-profit that combines my love for people, nature, and art.

Places you'd love to travel
Thailand is high on my list of international places to travel! I love Thai cuisine and the wildlife and nature there look so incredible in photos. I am also currently in the process of checking off one of my bucket list items, which is to travel to all of the U.S National Parks. I’ve been to a few so far, but on my list, I still have Zion, Yosemite, and Mt. Rainier that I am super excited to travel to.
-
What are your favorite words to live by?
I always try to “live in the moment”. I think it’s really important to be as present as possible in everything you are doing and experiencing. Time seems to fly by more and more every year and I want to make the best of every moment and truly live each one.
-
Sports/Dance/Hobbies you enjoy
I LOVE outdoor recreation! I am a huge fan of hiking, camping, kayaking, and swimming. I also really enjoy spending my time cooking. As a vegan, I really love getting creative in the kitchen and coming up with recipes and tricks to perfect vegan versions of my favorite foods from childhood, especially Turkish dishes my parents would make.

Where do you see yourself in ten years?
In 10 years, I see myself purchasing my first home and moving out west to the PNW area with my partner. The nature there is so beautiful and I would love to be immersed in it year-round. I would love to foster more animals and adopt at least 1 or 2 more as well. I also see myself plunging deeper into my photography and collaborating with other photographers and creators that I admire, and of course, continuing to make my way through all the U.S National Parks. I’ll hopefully have at least 10 more parks checked off in 10 years.
