Why do you want to become an egg donor?
I believe creating, in general, is one of the most meaninful things we can contribute to the world. Creation and creativity is a way for humans to express themsleves, move energy, and connect with others. I have recently embarked on a creative journey, learning to express myself through my yoga practice, as a teacher, as well as expressing myself in a spiritual sense. I have begun to believe in myself as a creative individual in many aspects of my life. While pursuing my spirituality, I began to realize that I can create essentially anything I want in this life. After hearing about my bestfriends donation journey, who is also my room mate, I began to think.. What if i could create at an even greater level? What if I could help others create (life)? I believe that I have greater purpose in life, and I believe two of those purposes to be the following; 1) to serve others (in my work as a speech therapist, in my work as a yoga instructor, possibly in an opportunity to donate my eggs), and 2) to create more (more life, more joy, more opportunity for myself and for others, to express myself creatively). Becoming an egg donor, to me, feels aligned with both of my greater purposes in life.

I recently spent 20 days in the jungle of Cambutal, Panama, completing at 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training. I consider this to be one of the most profound experiences of my life and feel that it has helped aligned my life in many ways. This training brought me great clarity about my purpose in life.

Who are the most important people in your life?
The most important people in my life are my mom and dad, as well as my bestfriends. I always tell my parents I would not be where I am today if it weren't for them. They have taught me my greatest lessons, shaped me into the woman I am today. My parents have always encouraged me to follow my dreams and "do what makes you happy". I believe that is the greatest support a parent can provide for their child. My best friends are greatly important to me simply because of the joy, laughter, and play they bring into my life. I believe having a solid group of supportive and loving friends can significantly improve an individuals quality of life.

What are your special talents?
I have the ability to connect with and see people deeply. Naturally, I am a curious, people person. I am always interested in the opinion and view of others, whether they align with my views and opinons or not. I believe being able to see others neutrally allows me to live with an open heart. In my ability to remain judgement free, I am able to connect with others deeply. Many family members of the patients I serve have expressed to me that they feel safe in sharing their stories with me, they feel comfortable opening up to me, and they feel my true sense of empathy, apathy, non-judgement, and love.

What is the one change you wish to see in the world?
I wish to see others open their hearts and minds to the true meaning of life. As humans, we are often so caught up in achieving, success, accolades, doing, having, ect. I believe the true meaning of life is to experience. To experience love, joy, hurt, excitment, pain, laughter, you name it. The good and the bad, I wish that more people could see that life as a whole is part of an experience.
-
What would you consider to your greatest strengths?
I am self-disciplined and organized, I enjoy learning, and I take pride in living a balanced life.
-
What is your favorite dish to consume?
Pasta or pizza. I love a spicy chicken pasta with a vodka sauce and a bubbly wood-fired pizza :)
-
What is something you've accomplished in life that you are most proud of?
I had a dream of becoming a yoga instructor and I made that happen for myself. I waited for an opportunity to train that felt aligned for me, I saved the money to make the trip happen, I took the risk of taking time off work to immerse myself into the experience, I completed the training and began teaching yoga independently. One of my greatest dreams I brought to life all by myself.

Who are you closest to in your family and why?
My mom. This is a relationship I am working on building and becoming closer with her as I get older. When I am upset, or conflicted, she always encourages me to follow my heart and do what makes me happy. She supports me even when she does not agree with me. She is my inspiration and I see alot of her in myself.

What was the defining moment that made you choose your field of study/career path?
I was diagnosed with bilateral vocal nodules, which are basically benign growths on the vocal folds that result from vocal abuse (I played sports growing up, spent alot of time screaming/cheering, and have always been a chatty social butterfly), when I was in early years of college. I had to have the nodules surgically removed and then worked with a speech therapist to learn to use my voice in a more gentle, healthy way. Working with her improved my confidence drastically. I was able to express myself clearly, speak out in lecture halls without feeling self conscious, and no longer felt like I sounded like a young boy going through puberty with a cracking voice. I knew that I eventually wanted to work in a therapeutic setting, and working with her sparked my interest in speech therapy. As I looked into the filed of study more, I begin to realize how valuable and necessary to ability to communicate is. We are social beings and thrive off connection with others. I realized how important the field of work was and felt that I would make a great therapist and decided to pursue the major as well as complete my masters degree.
