Why do you want to become an egg donor?
In a time where society can hold a lot of pressure on women, the idea of helping a fellow female is why I want to become a donor. I would also love to help a gay couple.

Anything special you'd like to tell us about you?
On my mom's side, I come from a huge, huge family. My grandma is one of 13 kids, most of which are sets of twins! My grandma's side has Cherokee Indian, in which I am only 18%. We come from Irish, English, Swedish, Norwegian, German descent. My grandma is paralyzed from the chest down, as a result of a terrible car crash from 30+ years ago, but she is resilient, and I believe her strength has been passed down from her to my mom, and then down to me. My dad on the other hand is 100% Brazilian. He currently lives near the capital of Brazil, where he is a government state official, specializing in non-profit agencies assisting the homeless and bringing light to mental illness in the region, as it is often overlooked. I am lucky to have come from two very separate and individual backgrounds, it is the reason I learned Portuguese to communicate to my grandma who doesn't speak a lick of English, it kickstarted my desire to travel, and has definitely influences my flavor palate. I love trying new foods and, thanks to my dad who was always cooking' up something yummy in the kitchen, I love to cook as well!

Other achievements or honors
I excelled in high school (3.75 GPA), during college at the University of Oregon I maintained over a 3.5 accumulated GPA. I was awarded a full tuition scholarship to the University of Oregon due to grades and extra curricular activities as well as community service. After some time at college, I decided I wanted to travel the world before I continued my education.

Are you currently working? If so where and in what capacity?
I am working! The past few years I have been working in the service industry. My love for food and people has kept me in the service industry for a couple reasons. The main reason is because it can be a way to brighten someone's day. I was always taught that one little thing can make a person's day. Therefore, I always give the best service I can.. because for all know, the family I am serving may be low income, and this is their only meal out this month. You never know someone's situation, so I always try to be a light in peoples' day.

Who are the most important people in your life?
I'd say the most important person in my life is my mom. As a young teenager, her mother (my grandma) was in a car crash that lead to paraplegia. My mom was forced to grow up very fast. She took on many responsibilities the average 14 year old wouldn't be expected to. After a few years, my mom was able to take a step back from taking care of my grandma and was able to follow some of her own dreams. She travelled and lived all over the united states, feeding her curiosity. At age 32 she had settled down in San Francisco, working in fine dining, for reasons similar to the reasons why I like to work in restaurants myself. There, she met my father, a man who had only lived in the united states for a handful of months. They fell in love, had me and my brother, then went their own ways. Growing up, my mom was the one to pay for our food, our clothes, our schooling, our bills, and was able to take us traveling, camping, and all the fun things! 12 years ago, my little sister was born. My single mother was able to support three kids basically on her own. She is strong, independent, loving, and dedicated to making everyone around her feel empowered and welcome. I strive to be like her.

What are your special talents?
I have a special way of being able to read people. I like to think I am a very empathetic person, and can feel when someone needs emotional give or take. People often reside in me, as a motherly, comforting figure. I think my ability to take care of myself and others is pretty special.
-
What is the one change you wish to see in the world?
I come from a very privileged part of the world: Oregon. Where waters flow, healthy food is abundant, and the air is so pure. I hope to see access to water all across the world someday. It brings me sadness knowing there are so many people lacking access to drinking water in places including the united states, but reaching all the way around the globe. That, and kindness.. I think some people forget that it's actually really easy to be kind to others!
-
What would you consider to your greatest strengths?
Being grounded and in the moment. Being level headed and thoughtful in my actions. Being a light in peoples' days and being a generally happy, kind, motivated individual. I can find a sense of community wherever I go, and never struggle with making friends. I prioritize myself in the way that I am very aware of my mental health and take strides in order to maintain a happy and healthy brain and body. I prioritize self care, and am not afraid of being alone and taking care of myself.. even if that entails movies and candy all day long every once in a while. I admire myself for being in-tune with myself and my instincts, I often believe it is what sets me aside from some of my peers.
-
What is your favorite dish to consume?
I could eat hispanic food ALL DAY. Being Latina myself, I have a love for rice, beans, meat, and spicy. Basically i could eat tacos for every meal for the rest of my life!
-
What is something you've accomplished in life that you are most proud of?
Weirdly enough, having the courage to leave college felt very accomplishing. Although the benefits of having a college degree are obvious, it was scary to leap into the world of the unknown. I was not happy at school, and it did not feel like the right fit for me. I left on a whim, moved to a new city, and began my adult life. Since moving to a fairly big ski town, I have found my partner, my best friends, new passions, and have learned so much about life. I am very proud of myself for doing something bold, and succeeding, even though people doubted me.
-
What is a book you love?
My favorite book at the moment is Where the Crawdad Sings
-
How would other people describe you?
Many have described me as the "mom" of the group. I tend to follow the rules, take care of people when they're down, I see things from a different perspective than the average 23 year old. I have boundaries, self control, and am very frugal. I am mature beyond my years, and have my head on very straight.. maybe sometimes a little too straight to the point i often tell myself i need to let loose a bit.
-
Describe your own personality to us
I agree with others in the sense that i am very mature and definitely the "mom" of the group. I am aware, cautious, and conscientious of my surroundings and outcomes of things. I look toward the future and strive for success.. it must be the Capricorn in me. I am thorough and attentive. I am adventurous and curious. While it may take me a while to commit to big travel plans, i am eager to get out there, and looking forward to a time where my finances allow me to see the whole world! I am silly, sometimes a little nerdy, I am giving, and hard working. I am liked by many and can get along with basically everyone, even in middle school I won Ms. Congeniality!

Books you are currently reading
I have been on a mystery kick lately. Robert Dugoni, Gillian Flynn, and Peter Swanson are a couple of my current favorite authors.
-
Who are you closest to in your family and why?
As I mentioned in a previous question, my mom is someone I look up to in many ways. We have many of the same interests, styles, and tastes. We bond over small things like our favorite Trader Joe's products, we both want to see the world, and everything in between.
-
What was the defining moment that made you choose your field of study/career path?
I knew the server life was for me when.... just kidding. I know the service industry isn't a forever thing, but for now it pay the bills, allows me to treat myself from time to time, and it creates a space for me to take care of people, give to people, and allow people to be treated as well.
-
If you could tell the intended parents who are considering you one thing, what would it be?
I'm a catch! I can't wait to have kids of my own because they're going to be WONDERFUL! I'm fully grown, but a kid at heart, I love movies, animals, art, space, toys, colors, food, friends, family, and adventure. I love company but am not afraid of being alone. I am independent, strong, committed, open, understanding, willing, and excited for life.
-
Places you'd love to travel
Currently my goal is to go back to Asia, to see MORE! I have been to Thailand, but Vietnam, Laos, Bali, and especially Japan are at the top of my list! I'd also love to go back to Brazil so I can practice speaking Portuguese and build a stronger relationship to my family there.
-
What are your favorite words to live by?
Trust the timing of your life. Things may not necessarily happen for a reason, but the time in which they unfold, a lesson always prevails.
-
Sports/Dance/Hobbies you enjoy
I love snowboarding! A couple years ago I'd probably the last person you'd expect to stand on a snowboard, but after a couple friends convinced me to take lessons, it is my new passion! Another passion I have, which is also newly found, is jewelry making. I have begun creating jewelry and shipping them all over the United States. I could spend hours creating and tinkering away. I love, love, love reading! Well, lately I have been enjoying audiobooks, that way I can craft and listen at the same time.
-
Where do you see yourself in ten years?
Hopefully settled down in a home with someone I love. Hopefully in 10 years I will have seen much more of the world. Hopefully I'm active and healthy and comfortable in every way. Hopefully I will have a few pets, maybe a few kids of my own, and hopefully own a hot tub in the backyard!
